Process Hazard Analyses

Overview

Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) encompasses a variety of methods of assessing and evaluating potential hazards in a process industry, providing executives and management with information in order to make decisions to improve safety.

It is a set of organized and systematic assessments of the potential hazards associated with an industrial process. A PHA provides information intended to assist managers and employees in making decisions for improving safety and reducing the consequences of unwanted or unplanned releases of workplace risks.

Hazard scenarios caused by equipment failures, human errors and external events must be considered. Safeguards, facility siting and human factors issues should be identified and their impact on safety identified.

A PHA is directed toward analyzing potential causes and consequences of  workplace hazards and it focuses on equipment, instrumentation, utilities, human actions, and external factors that might impact the process

What We Do

We help you execute a unified risk management strategy. We will help you develop a robust knowledge base, allowing for mitigations and controls that are both effective and preventative. Where there is uncertainty, risk assessments can be defined and linked, allowing full traceability from assessments to control plans to mitigation strategies and monitoring of controls. Essential steps in the risk lifecycle are unified on a single, global system with a closed-loop, continuous improvement process, ensuring adequate communication of data and lessons learned across departments, facilities and sites.

We can assist you in developing and managing a successful PHA for your facility and company & help you to:
  1. Create knowledge-driven PHAs that leverage consistent corporate terminology and lessons learned and link risk assessment studies
  2. Pre-formatted industry standard templates for: What If / Checklist, as well as Hazards and Operability (HAZOP); Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PrHA); Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA); and Safety Integrity Levels Assignment (SIL)
  3. Help you complete vulnerability analyses end-to-end, resulting in a more responsive and efficient business process
  4. Advanced reporting and auditing tools provide improved visibility into process operations
  5. Ensures that historical knowledge is accessible and best practices and lessons learned are shared from one study to the next
We also provide training, including leader training using the HAZOP and what-if/checklist techniques, updating and revalidating PHAs, and other PHA Techniques.
